How to make an instrumental with AI
Make instrumental is a free AI instrumental maker: describe the music you want and it composes an original instrumental - for videos, podcasts, games, study playlists or just for fun. It runs on your own computer, so it's unlimited and needs no account or API key.

Describe the music
Change the words in Describe the music: name instruments ("cello, soft piano"), a genre, or a scene ("rainy night in Tokyo").
Set mood, tempo and length
Add up to two Moods, set the Tempo in BPM, and choose a Length from 15 seconds to 2 minutes.
Make it
Press Make instrumental. The first time, the AI model downloads once (about 680 MB); after that each track is made on your graphics card.

Is it really free and unlimited?
Yes. The AI music model runs on your own computer, so there are no servers to pay for and nothing to count. Make as many tracks as you like - no sign-up, no credits, no watermark.
Why does the first track take a while?
Your browser downloads the AI music model once - about 680 MB - and keeps it. After that it starts in seconds, even on your next visit. The Remove link frees the space whenever you like.
How long does a track take to make?
It depends on your graphics card. A gaming laptop or desktop makes 30 seconds of music in well under a minute; everyday laptops with built-in graphics take a few minutes. The page shows an estimate for your device after the first track.
Can I use the music in my videos, podcasts and projects?
Yes. You own the music you make, as far as the law allows - use it on YouTube, in podcasts, games and client work. The model was trained on licensed and Creative Commons audio. You may not use the music to train other AI models, and it must follow Stability AI's acceptable use policy.
Does it make songs with vocals or lyrics?
Not here - this tool makes instrumentals only. For full songs with sung lyrics, use the Swara Sound studio. For spoken words over your music, try Swara Voice.
Which browsers and devices work?
Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop work best - they run the model on your graphics card (WebGPU). Recent Safari and Firefox may work too. Phones aren't recommended: the model is large and needs a lot of memory.
Where is the model kept?
In your browser's own storage for this site - not your Downloads folder, and nothing is installed. Clearing your browser's site data removes it; it downloads again next time.
Is my prompt private?
Yes. Your description and your music are made inside your browser tab. Nothing is sent to Swara Sound or anyone else.
