Why does the first voice-over take a while?

Your browser downloads the voice model once - about 90 MB, or around 310 MB for the faster graphics-card engine - and keeps it. The voice samples on this page play instantly without it. Next time, it starts right away.

How does the background music work?

Pick Calm pad, Lo-fi or Upbeat (composed in code, royalty-free) or add your own track. The music plays in before the voice, dips automatically whenever someone is speaking, and fades out at the end - like a radio or YouTube intro.

Can I get subtitles for my video?

Yes. Every voice-over comes with SRT and VTT subtitle files, timed to each sentence - drop them into YouTube, CapCut, Premiere or DaVinci Resolve alongside the audio.

Can I use the audio commercially?

The Kokoro voice model is released under the Apache 2.0 licence, which allows commercial use, and the built-in music beds are yours to use too. You're responsible for the words - don't impersonate real people. If you add your own music, you need the rights to it.

Is my text private?

Yes. Your script is turned into speech inside your browser tab and never sent to Swara Sound or anyone else.

Which devices work best?

Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop are fastest - they use your graphics card. Other browsers and phones use the processor: slower, but it works. You can pick the Light engine for a smaller download.

Does it speak other languages?

This version is tuned for English with American and British accents. More languages are planned.
