How to speed up or slow down audio online
Changing the speed of a recording is useful for learning a song, getting through a long lecture, or making a sped-up edit. This speed changer works on any audio file and can keep the original pitch, so voices still sound like themselves.
Open your audio

Choose the speed
Tap one of the speed buttons or drag the Speed slider. Below 1x is slower, above 1x is faster - you hear the change straight away.
Keep the pitch (or not)
With Keep original pitch on, only the timing changes. Turn it off and the pitch moves with the speed, like a record played faster or slower.
Listen through
Click anywhere on the waveform to jump there and check the result.
Save
Press Download MP3 (or WAV for full quality). The file name says the speed, for example (1.25x speed).
Frequently asked questions
Will the voice sound like a chipmunk?
Not with Keep original pitch on - only the timing changes, so voices and instruments stay at their natural pitch. Turn it off if you want the pitch to follow the speed.
How fast or slow can it go?
From 0.5x (half speed) to 2x (double speed), in small steps. Very big changes with the pitch kept can sound a little smeared - that's normal for any speed changer.
Can I change the speed of a video?
This tool works on audio. Many video files (MP4) open here as audio - you'll get the sound at the new speed as an MP3 or WAV.
