How to reverse audio and play a song backwards
Reversed audio is behind reverse reverb swells, hidden-message challenges, spooky effects and the classic "reverse a word" game. This tool flips any recording so it plays backwards, ready to save.
Open the file
Press the box above and choose a song, voice note or sound effect, or drop it on the box.
Listen
Press play. Reverse is already switched on, so you hear it backwards at once.
Pick the part
To reverse only a section, drag the gold handles or type the start and end times. Quick picks give you 15 or 30 seconds.
Smooth the edges
Add a short fade in and fade out so the reversed clip doesn't start or stop with a click.
Save
Choose MP3 or WAV and press Save the cut. The file name ends in (reversed).
Frequently asked questions
Can I reverse just part of a song?
Yes - drag the gold handles (or type start and end times) and only that part is reversed and saved.
Does reversing lower the quality?
No - the audio is simply played in the opposite order. Save as WAV to keep every detail, or MP3 for a smaller file.
Can I reverse a voice note from my phone?
Yes. Open it from your phone's files - voice notes saved as M4A, MP3 or OGG all work.
Is my file uploaded?
No - it's reversed inside your browser and never leaves your device.
